InfoDot Ransomware is the infection that has invaded your Windows operating system and encrypted your personal files if you can find the “.info@mymail9[dot]com” or “.info@sharebyy[dot]com” extension added to their names. The ransomware uses complex algorithms to change the data within these files, and once the data is scrambled, the files cannot be read normally. It is suggested that a ransom of 4 Bitcoins is expected, but there might have been a mixup because, at the time of research, 4 BTC converted to 33,324 US Dollars. It is unlikely that regular Windows users would have that kind of money.

If the victims of InfoDot Ransomware pay the requested ransom – regardless of the sum – the decryption software is unlikely to be provided to them. That is the nature of cybercriminals, who can promise anything just to reach the preset goals. When we analyzed the threat, a free decryptor did not exist, which means that the only tool potentially capable of restoring files was in the hands of the attackers. This is why we truly hope that backups exist. There are many different backup solutions to choose from these days, and while some people prefer to use external drives, others use online storage systems. It is never a good idea to store files in one place only, and it is always recommended that copies are created in a different place or several different places. So, if you have copies of the personal files affected by InfoDot Ransomware stored someplace safe, there is no reason to ponder anymore.
