Tunca Ransomware

Tunca Ransomware is a malicious application that encourages its victims to infect other users. The malware encrypts some of the user’s data and then demands to pay around one hundred euros. If the user cannot pay, the hackers behind the threat offer another deal. To be more accurate they ask to infect ten other users and send proof of it. In exchange, they promise to deliver needed decryption tools free of charge. Needless to say, it would be unwise to agree with any of it, as there are no guarantees the hackers will keep up to their promises. In fact, our researchers say it is entirely possible the attackers might not have the means to decrypt users’ files. Therefore, users who do not want to take any chances should erase Tunca Ransomware with no hesitation. If you need any help with its removal, you could take a look at the instructions provided at the end of the article. Further, in the text, we will present more details about this malware, so if you want to know more, we encourage you to keep reading.

The malicious application might appear on the computer after opening some suspicious file. It could be a recently downloaded email attachment, software installer, and so on. Thus, all you have to do to identify it is to think of all the files you downloaded and launched before the computer got infected with Tunca Ransomware. At least one of them should have been obtained from an untrustworthy source, such as Spam emails, torrent or similar file-sharing web pages, etc. Obviously, the only way to avoid downloading malicious data is to change your browsing habits. Instead of visiting any website you come across, you should enter only those sites that are known to be legitimate and trustworthy. Moreover, it is crucial you do not launch data that might be coming from suspicious sources without scanning it with a reliable antimalware tool first.

What happens when Tunca Ransomware’s installer gets launched? It does not seem like the malware creates any clones or additional data. Consequently, it is most likely the malicious application will immediately start encrypting user’s files. The good news is that instead of encrypting all personal data located on the computer the threat locks only the files placed in the My Documents, My Music, My Videos, My Pictures and Desktop directories. All encrypted files are supposed to receive the .tunca extension, so it should not be difficult to separate them from undamaged data. Another thing you should notice if Tunca Ransomware slips in is its ransom note that should be displayed on a red pop-up window. It shows the price in lots of various currencies on the left side, and on the other side, there should be instructions. The ones that are written with a larger font my say you can get your files back with specific decryption software the hackers offer if you pay the ransom. A little below, there might be other instructions saying you can infect ten other users and receive the needed decryption tools free of charge.

Our researchers do not think the hackers can decrypt even a single file. In addition to decryption software, it is necessary to have a unique decryption key, which is usually sent to a remote server. However, in this case, we discovered the malware saves it on the victim’s computer, which means they have no access to it. The problem is, you cannot obtain it either, as our specialists say the key is hashed with salting and cannot be viewed. This is why we think it is impossible to decrypt any data affected by Tunca Ransomware. Of course, knowing this we do not recommend putting up with any demands. What we suggest instead is eliminating the malicious application at once.

To get rid of the threat manually, you could use the instructions placed at the end of this text. Also, Tunca Ransomware can be removed with an antimalware tool, so if you find it easier, you should pick a reputable tool and scan the computer with it.
