Adamant Search

Adamant Search is a new search engine that may not be as innocent as it may strike you at first sight. In fact, we have categorized this browser extension as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) although it does exhibit browser hijacker traits as well. This PUP works only in your Google Chrome browser for the time being. It is set as your home page, new tab page as well as your default search provider. Apart from gathering information about you, this tool may also display questionable search results for you. Unfortunately, there is a good chance that you install this PUP under questionable circumstances, which can also mean that this potential threat source could be one of several other threats. In fact, there could be more serious threats like malware infections on board right now. All in all, we recommend that you remove Adamant Search from your computer as soon as you can along with all other related or non-related threats.

In all fairness, we need to mention that it is possible to officially install this browser extension via the Chrome web store. You can find its page at chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adamant-search/kcpbohfnldcommpbfbllnkicaokakjah; however, it seems that only 10 people have found it so far, at least the site statistics show that this "many" users have installed it. We have not found any other official source, not even a promotional webpage. But we do not think that too many users would find this page or would install such a questionable tool anyway. Before you install any application, you should run a web search first to find out whether it is a good idea to install it at all. You may find out, for example, that you should delete Adamant Search as a PUP or as a browser hijacker. This could give you a chance to decide for yourself if you should go on with the installation or not.

The real problem is that you can also install this extension without realizing it. How is this possible? Well, have you heard about free software bundles? These software packages can be used by cyber criminals to spread all kinds of malicious programs as well as PUPs bundled together. This means that you can infect your system quite easily with a number of threats in one go if you are not cautious enough. You can, for example, download such an infectious bundle when downloading free or cracked programs from questionable file-sharing websites. But you can also drop one when you click on corrupt content, such as third-party ads and fake buttons. Sometimes, it is enough for you to simply click on any content when you are viewing a suspicious website and you could open malicious pages on new tabs or drop a bundle of infections. This is why it is important that after you delete Adamant Search, you find a reliable online malware scanner and use it to find all possible threats on your computer.

When you install this PUP, it sets search.pristineapp.com as your home page, new tab page, and default search provider in your Google Chrome browser. This means that you could be exposed to this questionable search engine every time you open your Chrome browser, start a new tab, or run a search from the address bar. This search engine looks totally fine on the surface to be frank. However, it may show you search results that might contain questionable third-party advertisements and sponsored content. Do not forget that this tool may also gather data about you that can be used to present you with tailored content, which would result in manipulated search results. The problem is that these results could be risky to click on. Remember that clicking on unreliable ads and links could take you to malicious websites or drop infections directly. Therefore, we advise you to remove Adamant Search as soon as you can.

Remove Adamant Search from your browser

1. Tap Alt+F and choose More tools.
2. Go to Extensions.
3. Locate the undesirable extension and tap the Trash can.
4. In the confirmation window, press Remove.
