Two Click SearchTwo Click Search is one of those questionable applications bound to raise some eyebrows because it does nothing useful. We have classified it as a potentially unwanted program and suggest that you remove it because all it can do is add an additional button to Google Chrome that will, allegedly, make searching for information online so much faster. In reality, however, its offered feature looks more like a gimmick than a usable feature. Our analysis has shown that this extension can actually be used for collecting information about you that is sold to third-party advertisers. However, it is also likely that the information is used for presenting shady ads that generate this extension’s developers revenue. In any case, keeping this extension on your PC is a bad idea as it offers nothing of value and can show questionable ads. Two Click Search was created by a company under the same name, so, in fact, the true developers are unknown. This program is featured on the Chrome Web Store at https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/two-click-search/klidjmocbpidgeoapgfiljiddgilhige. However, even the store provides no information on its origins. It only features a link to its dedicated website at Two-click-search.info that also contains no information about the company that developed it. This site does not even have terms of service or privacy policy documents which just goes to show how unreliable this browser extension is. Apart from being featured on the Chrome Web Store, this extension is also known to be bundled with malicious software installers. These software installers are featured on one or even several shady freeware websites. The installers might have been configured to install Two Click Search secretly. However, it is more likely that the installers disclose the presence of this extension, but you may have to uncheck its installation manually as it may be set to be installed by default. Selecting advanced or custom installation settings is a good idea when you install software from unknown software distributing websites. If you install Two Click Search on Chrome, then it will add a new search function. When you highlight text on a website, you can right-click it and click Two Click Search and it will allow you to search for information on Wikipedia and Google. The highlighted text is entered as a search query to provide you with search results. That is all that there is officially to this program. As you can see, it is not all that useful, but not useless. However, we have a problem with some of its hidden features. Our research has revealed that Two Click Search may have been configured to collect information about you. This information is anonymous and includes technical information such as your IP address, Internet Service Provider domain name, browser type, operating system type, and so on. It can also obtain information about your location since it obtains the IP address. We believe that this information is used to show advertisements, but this extension did not show any while we tested it. Another possibility is that this information is given to third parties for advertising purposes as well, but we do not know how it is used exactly. In any case, it is evident that this extension in next to useless. In closing, Two Click Search is just another extension that we classified as potentially unwanted due to it questionable features that do not provide you with anything worthwhile. It features an odd search feature that nobody would use and also may collect information for advertising purposes. Therefore, you may want to remove it and, if you do, then please see the guide below. How to delete this browser extension
