Cutwail

Cutwail is a Trojan application with Rootkit functionality. Cutwail, being a form of software that cloaks the presence of files and data to evade detection, while allowing an attacker to take control of the machine without the user's knowledge, is highly dangerous for any computer system. Cutwail, which is quite typical of Rootkit applications, is used by malware including viruses, spyware, Trojans, and backdoors, to conceal themselves from the system user as well as from malware detection software (such as anti-virus and anti-spyware applications). Cutwail is used by some adware applications and DRM (Digital Rights Management) programs to combat the removal of said unwanted software. Cutwail is considered a high risk to any system user, as it is typically installed without the user’s interaction, consent or knowledge, and does so, via security exploits. Cutwail is very capable of severely compromising the infiltrated system security. This Trojan, Cutwail, is designed to infiltrate your computer and open a conduit by which large amounts of adware and spyware can be piped to your system. This program opens up a large security hole on your computer and is a very dangerous threat to the security of your personal and financial data. This malware utilizes Rootkit techniques to hide its presence on your system. Cutwail places the computer system at risk of the opening of illicit network connections, the use of polymorphic tactics to self-mutate, the disabling of security software, the modification of system files, and the installation of additional malware. These risks may also collect and transmit personally identifiable information (PII) without the consent of the user and may eventually severely degrade the performance and stability of the infiltrated computer system.
