Strato Music

Strato Music could be another release from developers that created adware applications known as MP3 Spun and Celeb Wham. Our researchers think that the application is a clone of the mentioned adware programs because it has an almost identical appearance and a similar working manner. Also, it is advisable to remove the application because it displays suspicious pop-ups, sponsored links and other ads from third-party web pages. This content should show up on your screen when you search the Internet. Unfortunately, they are not only irritating but also doubtful as they might redirect you to sites that contain unreliable or even malicious software. Those who do not want to take any chances with this adware should scroll to the bottom of this page and check the available removal instructions.

On the adware’s official website, Strato Music is advertised as a tool that should help you “find great new music online” or give you music recommendations. If you click the download button, you will receive the application’s installer that might be bundled with other doubtful programs, e.g. browser hijackers, potentially unwanted programs, etc. Needless to say that if you did not read all the installation wizard’s steps carefully, you might have accepted more software than just Strato Music. In this case, it is essential to get rid of these additional programs, because they might cause you some troubles too.

When you launch the application, it opens a separate window with its logo on top. Below its logo the adware promotes two web pages called groovesharks.org and last.fm. Both of the sites are related to music as they allow users to download or listen to it, watch music video clips, and so on. Thus, the application does not have any unique content or useful features. Apparently, Strato Music’s only goal is to advertise third-party sites and products. The main problem with so-called third-party content is that it could be created for malicious intentions or to make easy money. Sadly, there is no guarantee that third-party sites and services offered there will not harm your computer. This is why the adware’s creators state that they do not take any responsibility for the outcome of your interaction with third parties.

Another thing you should know about the adware is that it may collect not only your anonymous but also sensitive information. Non-identifiable data could be your search keywords, links of visited web pages, reviewed products, ads, and so on. While, personal information could be your name, email address, telephone number, location, etc. Strato Music’s creators included the following statements in the software’s Privacy Policy: “During the process of registering on our site, participating in various offers, completing surveys, or sending us emails or correspondence, we collect additional information that you may disclose, including for example mobile telephone number, fax number, <…>, credit information, social security number, health information and personal preferences regarding lifestyle, products or services.” If you do not wish to reveal any of your sensitive data, you should stay away from third-party sites, surveys, coupons, and other kinds of ads. On the other hand, if you delete the application you will be able to surf the Internet with no worries and ad-free as well.

If you leave the application on you system and interact with its provided content, you could not only reveal your sensitive data or harm your PC, but also receive more third-party advertisements. Since by installing the adware you also agreed to “receive future information about products and services from us and from a variety of advertisers to whom we may provide your Information.”

Obviously, we cannot claim that you will face these exact risks we described in the article, but you should be aware that the application cannot be trusted, and it could be dangerous to your computer. For users who wish to get rid of the adware, we added a removal guide below the article. According to it, you should open the Control Panel feature, which will allow you to uninstall the application with no leftovers in your system. Also, you can get the same result if you install an antimalware that should delete all the Strato Music’s created files, folders, icons, etc. Although the security tool can also erase other threats besides the adware if you have any on your computer.
