PC Clean PlusPC Clean Plus is yet another recently released program advertised as a computer optimization tool. However, it optimizes nothing as it only removes empty registry keys that are not associated with any files. We have tested this application and after doing so, we have come to the conclusion that it is a mere potentially unwanted program (PUP) because it does not do anything other than perform a questionable scan of your computer and offer you to purchase the full version to fix the issues. Note that it can fix 15 errors free of charge as proof that it works. Nevertheless, it will not improve your computer’s performance by a long shot. After researching this PUP, we have found that its files were digitally signed by Jawego Partners LLC. We have reason to believe that this company is based in Santa Clara, California since, according to its EULA, this is where occurring arbitration is supposed to take place. Speaking of its website, PC Clean Plus is promoted and put up for download on Pccleanplus.com. This site offers a standalone installer which means that there are no hidden applications in it. Moreover, it seems that this is the only place where you can get this application. As far as we know, it does not come bundled with other software or distributed via freeware websites. However, we think that this optimizer may be promoted via ads that redirect to its main website. Its setup creates 3 scheduled tasks. One of them will automatically launch the program each time you boot up your computer. The second one is it will scan your PC every two hours. Third, it will automatically check and download updates. After you install this application, it will automatically start and perform a scan of your computer. We want to clarify that PC Clean Plus is not an overall PC cleaning application since it only scans your computer’s registry for so-called “errors.” The trust is that it will scan for and detect empty registry keys that pose no threat to your PC’s security whatsoever. Furthermore, those empty keys do not affect overall system performance. Thus, after purchasing this application, you will receive nothing more than a gimmick. Note that PC Clean Plus costs $49.95 USD, which is a reasonable sum of money. However, its developers employ clever marketing tactics by offering a discount for nothing, so you can purchase it for only $29.95. We argue that the functionality this program offers you can get from free registry cleaners, so by buying this program, you will only be throwing your money away. Moreover, when you try to uninstall this application, it will offer you to call customer support, and if you uninstall, then it will offer you a 50 % discount for the program. Ironically, this program may leave empty registry keys of its own after you uninstall it. We have found that it creates eight registry keys that you may want to get rid of. You can do that manually, but we do not recommend it. We suggest using software instead since tampering with the Windows registry when you do not know your way around it can leave your system damaged. So the registry keys this program might leave include:
In conclusion, PC Clean Plus is a useless application that offers a real yet ineffective function. As stated, it will only detect and delete empty registry keys which is fine, but it will not impact system performance. Furthermore, we are positive that you can find an application that can mop up your computer’s registry for free. Lastly, we want to stress that this application may unjustifiably delete a crucial registry key and thus render your computer inoperable. We are not familiar with PC Clean Plus’s developer, and it seems to be just another small-time software developer looking to make a quick buck before going bust.
