TuneJunkies New TabTuneJunkies New Tab is a browser extension for Google Chrome that has been classified as a potentially unwanted program due to its questionable functionality. You might want to remove this program, because after its installation, this program will automatically change Chrome’s homepage and new tab page, without giving you a choice in the matter. It replaces them with a customized version of Ask.com known as Search.ask.com. The true intentions of TuneJunkies New Tab’s developers are unclear. We think that this program’s only objective is to promote this search engine, redirect web traffic, and, thus, make money for its developers. The company that developed this undesirable program is called APN, LLC which is closely related to Mindspark Interactive Inc, and a few other companies. Unfortunately, APN has recently launched another program called WorldSport New Tab, which is almost identical to this program. Like its predecessor, TuneJunkies New Tab is promoted using adware programs. These programs attack users with pop-up advertisements and some get tempted to click them and, as a result, get this program. As far as we know, not only can this program be downloaded from its dedicated download website at Tune-junkies.com, but it is also featured on Google’s Chrome Web Store. Note that this program is not malicious. It just does not provide users with any useful functions. We have deemed TuneJunkies New Tab as potentially unwanted, because the services it provides are just ridiculous. Once you install it, it will automatically change the homepage and new tab page to Search.ask.com, a search engine associated with APN and Mindspark Interactive. This search engine is apt to display search results that include sponsored links. It is also set to gather certain information about you for various purposes. Search.ask.com utilizes both first and third-party browser cookies to keep tabs on you. Third-party cookies are served by a third party on the company’s behalf. The search engine uses cookies to improve user experience and performance, but it also uses them to display customized advertisements. And that is how TuneJunkies New Tab’s owners make money. We do not recommend using this program, because we think third-party advertisements cannot be trusted. As mentioned, TuneJunkies New Tab itself is prompted via adware programs, which are considered as malicious programs. So, it is possible that this program’s developers will return the favor by promoting someone else’s program of unreliable nature. Even though TuneJunkies New Tab does not show traces of malicious nature, we find its taking over of the homepage and new tab page as unacceptable. Of course, it promotes links to legitimate music-related websites, but you can simply bookmark these websites on the browser without having to deal it an undesirable search engine. So, if you want to remove TuneJunkies New Tab, then all you have to do is go to the Control Panel, find it, and click the Uninstall button. After you have done that, your homepage and new tab page will be reset to their original respective addresses. Due to the fact that TuneJunkies New Tab is mainly advertised via adware programs, you should check your PC for them manually or using an antimalware tool. Either way, we suggest investing in long-term protection by getting an antimalware scanner. Remove TuneJunkies New Tab from Google Chrome
