Gearscroll is yet another adware application from SuperWeb group. It is a direct clone of loffinam, TowerTilt, ResultsBay and other adware programs from the same family. This program says that it can help you save money when you shop online. In fact, it is what a lot of adware applications claim to do. Unfortunately, most of their promises are lies and Gearscroll certainly cannot live up to it. If you happen to have this program on your computer, remove Gearscroll immediately. Adware applications may not be direct system security threats, but you need to take any potential security issue into account.

It is important to point that that the main homepage for Gearscroll is not working. Gearscroll.net looks like a decent web page, but clicking on the Download Now button does not initiate any direct download. What is more, this website also provides you with basic information on this program, but going through it does not give you any definite idea about what Gearscroll is and what it does. What is more, the information at the main homepage claims that this program is compatible with all three main web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer). Nevertheless, during our tests we have noticed that Gearscroll does not affect Google Chrome at all.

Since there is no direct download link for this application, we can say that Gearscroll travels bundled with freeware. Our computer security experts suggest that this program comes bundled with third party installers and downloaders. It happens when you often download freeware from unfamiliar websites and do not read all the setup steps carefully.

Either way, if Gearscroll happened to have entered your computer, you will notice that this program adds extensions to Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers. Afterward, whenever you open a supported website (ebay.com, bestbuy.com, amazon.com and other popular online shopping malls), this adware program will display commercial suggestions and banner ads. Gearscroll will try to convince to click one of its ads so that you would access an affiliate website and increase its traffic count.

1. Drag mouse cursor to the bottom right of the screen.
2. Wait for Charm bar to appear and then click Settings.
3. Go to Control Panel and select Uninstall a program.
4. Highlight Gearscroll and click Uninstall.

Windows Vista & Windows 7

1. Open Start menu and click Control Panel.
2. Select Uninstall a program and remove Gearscroll.

Windows XP

1. Open Start menu and navigate to Control Panel.
2. Select Add or remove programs and uninstall Gearscroll.

Remove Gearscroll from Mozilla Firefox

1. Press Alt+T and click Add-ons.
2. Disable and remove Gearscroll from Extensions. Restart browser.
