Linkey Project is a browser plug-in that is sometimes classified as browser hijacker, especially when it is downloaded and installed from third party websites. There are also Top Sites available for Games, Videos, Music, Recipes, News, Health and so on. You can also choose your country of residence and the list of the most popular websites will be changed automatically based on what is the most popular in your location.

Linkey Project becomes the most problematic when it gets downloaded from such websites as Softonic. Based on our security research, when the application is bundled with SoftonicDownloader (for RegClean Pro and similar applications), it comes with a browser hijacker that changes your home page for Default-Search.net. In such a case, you will need to restore your browser settings manually, because it is very likely that the web page has nothing to do with the official Linkey Project website.

Removing Linkey Project manually is not hard, because if you uninstall it via Control Panel, the extensions will be automatically removed from the browser as well. 1. Slide mouse cursor to the bottom right corner of your desktop.
2. When Charm bar appears click Settings and select Control Panel.
3. Go to Uninstall a program and remove Linkey Project.

Windows Vista & Windows 7

1. Open Start menu and click Control Panel.
2. Select Uninstall a program and remove Linkey Project.

Windows XP

1. Click Start menu button and navigate to Control Panel.
2. Open Add or remove programs and uninstall Linkey Project.

Change your default home page

Internet Explorer

1. Press Alt+T and click Internet options.
2. Click Use Default under General tab and press OK.
3. Press Alt+X and go to Manage add-ons.
4. Click Search providers on the left.
5. Set a new default search engine and remove Default-Search.net.
6. Click Close and restart the browser.

Mozilla Firefox

1. Press Firefox button and click Options.
2. Select Restore to Default under General tab and click OK.
3. Click the search engine icon on the left of Firefox search box.
4. Select Manage search engines on drop-down menu.
5. Remove Default-Search.net from the list and click OK.

Google Chrome

1. Press Alt+F and go to Settings.
2. Under On Startup, mark Open a specific page or set of pages.
3. Click Set pages and change your home page. Click OK.
4. Select Manage search engines under Search.
5. Set a new default search engine and remove Default-Search.net. Press Done.
