Trojan.SefnitTrojan.Sefnit is a computer threat that has recently been singled out as a malware with a high number of detection counts all over the world. It presupposes that this Trojan is good at spreading fast and infecting as many systems as it can, and one can also infer that Trojan.Sefnit uses successful ways of distribution and is hard to detect at first, much to the dismay of the innocent users who become the victims of this parasite. Trojan.Sefnit is best known for injecting itself into the web browser processes and hijacking search engine results. Both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox are susceptible to this infection. So if you catch this infection, Trojan.Sefnit can take over some of your search results, and when you click on the links in the list, you can easily be redirected to a malware-associated website. From there it takes just a few seconds before you catch an even graver infection. The first sign of the infection is obviously the behavior of the search engines. When you notice that you are frequently redirected to websites other than those you are trying to access after the search, it might be a strong indication that you have caught Trojan.Sefnit. There are actually a lot of different types of Trojan.Sefnit and some of them can install themselves as Browser Helper Objects, and then interferes with the search carried out via Google, MSN and Yahoo search engines. The reason why Trojan.Sefnit is sneaky and can launch itself automatically is that during the installation, it modifies certain registry entries with rundll32.exe. This process is always running in your Windows Task Manager, because Windows uses it to run program codes in DLL files, but unfortunately this file is often used by computer threats to launch their codes as well, because parasites like Trojan.Sefnit have a lot of DLL files associated with them as well. For example, a few of the malicious DLL files associated with the Trojan are 6to4x.dll, PSFactoryBuffer.dll, d3dWIPlay.dll among the others. These files are mostly classified as fraudulent security programs, which means that Trojan.Sefnit call also be associated with rogue antispyware, and having a rogue antispyware program in your computer means that not only your computer security is being targeted, the hackers want to steal your money as well! For instance, 6to4x.dll is an information stealer file that can also function as a system backdoor and a malware dropper. To put it simply, not only does Trojan.Sefnit meddle with your web search, it also opens your system’s door for other types of malware, and if this infection is left unattended, you can end up with a seriously damaged computer and no money in your bank account. Thus, you have to remove Trojan.Sefnit from your system as soon as you notice that your search engine is acting weird, or when you see that you cannot operate your computer the way you were used to. It is a challenge to remove this program on your own, so do invest in a reliable computer safeguard program that will scan your computer and terminate Trojan.Sefnit automatically along with all of its components. |
