Pushbot

If you are using Yahoo Messenger, MSN messenger or AIM and your PC has been acting suspiciously for some time, you could be infected with Pushbot, also known as W32.Palevo, Win32/Pushbot or SDBot.gen8. Pushbot will give unscrupulous cyber criminals access to your PC without your knowledge or consent. It was recently listed on Microsoft’s list of top botnets, is distributed via zip files which are attached to instant messages from anonymous instant messages. Some of the contents recorded in the messages in which Pushbot is attached have read as:

“LOL, you look so ugly in this picture, no joke”

“Hey m8, who is this on the right, in this picture”

“Sup, seen the pictures from the other night?”

These messages are designed with the intent of deceiving the user into opening the attached Zip document, which carries the Pushbot virus. Once the attachment is opened, the Pushbot infection will take root on the PC.
