Memory FixerIt can be easy to fall victim to the brilliant sophistication which goes into the design and development of rogue system optimizers – as in the case of Memory Fixer. This rogue, which hails from the same family as well known rogues HDD Fix, Quick Defrag, and Full Scan and Easy Scan. This rogue can easily pass as a genuine system optimization tool at first glance, but advanced users will be able to quickly identify Memory Fixer as the rubbish rogue it is. As is the case with most rogueware, users won’t even be aware of infiltration or infection. Memory Fixer will forcefully enter the system through browser and system exploits with the help of illicit websites making use of drive-by download techniques. It also bundles its Trojans and malware to legitimate security updates and other software obtained from third party sites. And the user will remain oblivious to Memory Fixer’s presence on his PC until the rogue deigns it the appropriate time to reveal itself in the form of a fake system scan and incessant pop up messages. These excessive fake security alerts are fake in nature, and should not be trusted or believed. Be on the lookout for the following fake security notifications from Memory Fixer which will appear in the Windows taskbar: "Critical Error! "Critical Error "Critical Error "Critical Error "Critical Error! "Critical Error "System Restore "Activation Reminder "Low Disk Space "Windows - No Disk Obviously none of these fake alerts can be trusted, and users should never act on any call to action incited by Memory Fixer. While running, Memory Fixer will try to prevent the PC owner from running any type of security program which might be able to detect and remove Memory Fixer from the system. In trying to avoid this, Memory Fixer will block any attempt to run an application on the system. When trying to launch a program, the user will be presented with one of the following fake error messages: "Windows detected a hard drive problem. Or "Windows cannot find notepad. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search." Or "Windows detected a hard drive problem. When the user closes the fake alert, another fake notification will pop up on the screen which pretends to be able to fix the error on the hard drive: "Fix Disk If the user makes the mistake of acting on this call to action and presses Start, Memory Fixer will proceed to scan the PC and report that there is something severely amiss with the system: "Windows Disk Diagnostics If the user decides to run the Memory Fix scan, it will state that the system is afflicted with numerous crippling messages. It will go on to inform the user that it can fix these supposed problems, but only after he purchases Memory Fix. Examples of the fabricated problems Memory Fix will report on include: “Requested registry access is not allowed. Registry defragmentation required Should you wish to active Memory Fixer on your system, in an effort to activate your Internet connection and be able to run executables again, type in the following security key: 0973467457475070215340537432225 This should effectively “activate” Memory Fixer on the system and stop the incessant pop up messages from spamming you as well. Do not fall victim to this incredulous rogue. Memory Fixer is a fake security application, and should not be allowed to run on your system. Remove Memory Fixer in an effort to prevent it from completely ruining your system. Make use of a genuine security tool which will not only erase Memory Fixer from the PC, but also offer future protection against similar threats. |
